A music website sold 94 single songs and 67 albums today. The number of single downloads has been increasing by 22 each day. The number of album downloads has been decreasing by 5 each day. If these trends continue, in how many days will the number of single downloads by ten times the number of album downloads? Write and solve an equation to find the number of days. (Hint: choose a variable to represent the number of days.)

First Quarter Survival
It's now just about the end of the first quarter of this year in 8th grade. The year is proving to be a challenge to everyone, but I, for one, am enjoying it. All of the good outweighs the bad. I am so please with the level of math ability that these students have brought to this class. It would help more if they just weren't so talkative, but we are working on that! :)
I hope most of you are usng the new Edline computer/internet program that will let you keep better track of your grades, assignments, etc. I also hope you continue to check out this blog. I will continue to change things from time to time and maybe even post a bonus or two! I encourage you to use this blog site and the Edline site for your daily assignments as they are much more updated, at least for math class, than the Homework Hotline phone number, but either is better than nothing. Keep up the good work!
As you may be wondering...is she actually in France standing in front of the Eiffel Tower? NO...I could only wish! But second best to the actual Eiffel Tower in France may be the Eiffel Tower Replica (restaurant) on the Strip in Las Vegas Nevada. I recently took a short trip to Las Vegas to meet my sister and her fiance to have some last "sisters" time before she gets married in December. (FYI, my sister is 3 years older than me and is an aerospace engineer for Boeing in Los Angelos.) We had a great time together playing some games, eating expensive dinners, shopping, taking pictures, seeing a show Cirque de Soleil "Ka," and hanging out at the hotel spa. I even got "Eiffel for This Color" nail polish at the salon for my pedicure! (Both my sister and I took French in high school, so we get excited about this kind of stuff!) Anyway, check out the picture! In a couple months, I will put new pictures up of the wedding and the newliweds!

Welcome Back!
It is unbelievable to me that it is time to go back to school already! The weather is still beautiful, so it will be hard for all of us to be stuck in the hot school building and watch the sun shine outside our windows.
I hope everyone has had a great summer vacation. I have had a busy summer vacation, as I went on a few trips, took on a side job, and planned for the upcoming school year.
My trip to Irvine, California was the highlight of my summer as it gave me the opportunity to escape from the state of Pennsylvania and explore some new and exciting activities. Spending time with my mother and sister before her beach wedding was fun and relaxing. Now I anticipate another trip to her wedding in Laguna Beach in December over Christmas Vacation!
As my boyfriend took on a new job as a Westmoreland County Park Police, he needed help with his other work, trapping and testing mosquitos for West Nile Virus. Through my spare time this summer, I became trained in performing these tasks and spent much time outside and in the woods setting traps and catching mosquitos. It was kind of yucky and hard to get used to, but interesting and fun to learn and do something new! After this, I am glad to return to my day job!
My latest and last summer trip was just yesterday to Sandcastle Water Park! I have always wanted to go and never had anyone to go with. After luckily getting some free tickets, I was able to convince some friends to go along. Spending Friday evening at The Waterfront attending a comedy show highlighting Christian Finnegan from the Chappelle show, playing arcade games at Dave and Busters, and listening to the dueling pianos at Sing Sing was an exciting night. From open to close, it was a blast to spend Saturday riding ALL of the waterslides at Sandcastle at least once. Although very frightened at first and having to build up my confidence, I rode "Blue Tubaluba" and loved it! I also worked up the confidence to ride my first body slide, "Boardwalk Blasters," but only once; I wasn't a huge fan! I had a blast and can't wait to go back again next summer!
Now it's time to start getting back into the swing of things. 5:30 am seems to come to fast each day, but once I am up, I am rearing to go to start teaching the 8th graders something new.
I hope each and every one of you enjoyed your summer vacation and can share something exciting about it with us. I look foward to being your math teacher this year.
